About Mrs. Fitts
My Philosophy

Hi! My name is Mrs. Fitts, and I’m so excited about starting the new school year. More importantly, I’m THRILLED about being YOUR third grade teacher! It’s going to be a fun year full of lots of learning and new adventures. I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us!

I want to know all about you, but first, I’m going to tell you all about me!

I was born and raised right here in Columbus, GA. I graduated in 2000 from Hardaway High School. I went to college at Columbus State University, where I received my bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Later, I attended Troy State University, where I received my master’s degree in Elementary Education, and then completed my Specialist Degree in Instructional Technology at the University of West Georgia. Since teaching, I have also added on my ESOL and gifted endorsements.

I started teaching back in 2004 at Dimon Magnet Academy. I taught 4th grade for three years. Then, I moved over to become a Britt David Bulldog in 2007. This school year will now be my fourteenth year teaching third grade at BDMA and my seventeenth year teaching.

In 2005, I married a fabulous man, Joel Fitts. He works at TSYS. We have two precious little boys: Carter and Brody. Carter will be in 5th grade and Brody will be in 4th grade. They are both so much fun and keep me busy! I love them SO much. I can’t wait to share our stories with you at school.

I’m so excited to be your third grade teacher. I believe that we are all placed together for a greater purpose. I look forward to finding that purpose.

My Mission: It is my mission to get to know all of the children in my class. I love to know unique things about each of them. It is also my mission to see each child make academic progress throughout the year. I want everyone reach their full potential. As we are learning, it is my mission that it will be a fun and interactive process. I also want everyone to get in the Nonfiction Club.

My beliefs about teaching: I believe that education is a privilege. Each parent entrusts their child to a teacher with the job of guiding children to learning in a safe, nurturing environment.I believe that all children can surpass expectations that are set, even high ones.I believe that there are three entities to ensure that every child learns: the child, the teacher, and the parent. If they all work together, the child can accomplish anything he/she sets their mind to.I believe that God uniquely created each child. Therefore, a classroom should be designed in order to meet each child’s individualities.
